While development of Logbook DM has stopped, and the marketshare of PalmOS-based devices is dwindling,
Logbook DM is still available for those still using a PalmOS-based device.
Logbook DM was the fruit of my search for a PDA-based application that would help me better manage my diabetes. But so much of the software out there was written by, it seems, programmers who didn't actually have to use their software daily. Data entry of BGLs, carb intake, and insulin dosages are all interconnected, but most of the software out there treated these as separate inputs on separate screens. In made the process of logging and maintaining my diabetes more of a chore than it needed to be.
So I created Logbook DM first and foremost for myself. Rather than discontiguous parts, Logbook DM not only meant to make logging all the data easily done from a single screen, but it also took a proactive role in helping me better maintain my BGLs. The built-in bolus calculator would determine insulin requirements based on food intake, current BGLs, as well as "insulin on-board". It provided automatic reminders to follow up on testing after meals, as well as handled categorizing entries intelligently without user intervention to improve on-screen data analysis. It was all about making it easier for me as a diabetic.
